Simply put, we ignore the climate crisis we are facing at our peril. The extractive economy that dominates the western world is profoundly unsustainable and we are all called to deeply examine the way we live, what we consume and what we tacitly support. As a start this film is a powerful and beautifully made work detailing the Pope Francis' exhortation to live in harmony with our common home. This call goes beyond the bounds of any single faith or ideology. It is for every member of the human species.

In St Lucia we live in one of the world's most beautiful natural preserves with unique diversity of fauna and flora. Yet on our doorstep is "the smell of sadness", as some have put it, where mining activity has displaced local communities and destroyed large tracts of natural vegetation. A relentless stream of coal trucks queue up to offload this fossil fuel into ships for export. Here the dilemma and tragedy starkly presents itself and begs for urgent engagement.
